Green Papaya Salad Pok Pok Som Tam Recipe
1 cup green papaya peeled and julienned into thin strips.
Chinese cabbage or carrots can substitute
3 garlic cloves
2 green chili’s (small, add more if you desire spicy)
2 long green beans (cut into 1 inch pieces)
5 dried shrimps (optional)
1 tbls Thai fish sauce
1 tbls lime or lemon juice
1 tbls palm sugar
1 tbls Thai fish sauce (optional)
2 cherry tomato (cut in half)
1 tbls roasted peanuts
Put the garlic, chili’s and long green beans into a mortar and gently pound with pestle until ingredients are bruised but not mushy. Add the strips of papaya and pound gently to bruise the ingredients. Add the dried shrimps, fish sauce, lime juice and palm sugar and stir together using a spoon until the palm sugar has melted. Add the tomatoes, fish sauce and mix to combine. Then add the peanuts and mix together. Serve with sticky rice.
